Urban Sound Symposium & Hackaton 2019

The urban sound symposium integrating the urban soundscape hackaton is organized from April 3rd til April 5th 2019 in Ghent, Belgium. This meeting will bring together experts and practicioners working in the area of urban sound. The symposium is organised around a single track of keynote talks on several topics of interest for urban sound planners. In addition, participants can present their own work in a poster session.

Register before December 1st 2018 at a reduced registration fee.

In parallel with the symposium, teams of up to four designers and audiovisual rendering specialists can compete in a hackaton for the urban soundscape award in the brand new library and audiovisual experience building: De Krook. Participants of the symposium will be invited to experience the hackaton results together with the international jury.

ICA/ASA/DEGA Young Scientist Conference Attendance Grants

The ICA, with the support of the ASA, has established the ICA-ASA Young Scientist Conference Attendance Grants (YS Grants) Programme to help young acousticians attend International Congresses on Acoustics.

For ICA 2019 (9-13 September 2019), the host organization DEGA is contributing additional funding.

Each grant is currently up to 500 EUR from which a portion will be used to cover the conference registration and the remainder provided at the time of the conference.

Candidates must be under 35 years on the day of the opening ceremony of the Congress and may be either undergraduate or postgraduate students, postdoctoral or young acousticians.
Special attention will be given to applicants from developing countries.

The deadline for applications for a ICA/ASA/DEGA YS Grant is 1 February 2019.
