The Belgian Acoustical Society organises symposia and company visits related to building acoustics, environmental acoustics and noise control. To provide our members with the opportunities to interact, our events are always complemented with a networking event such as a reception or dinner. Non-members usually are allowed to participate in our events at a higher fee.
Lightweight Acoustics Day @ Buildwise
We are pleased to invite all ABAV members to this study day. The construction industry is slowly evolving towards using lighter materials. This is challenging for building acoustics. For this series of lectures we invite some experts to shed some light on several related problems and their solutions.
The day is filled with lectures with breaks in between. During the breaks you can visit the mini expo of our sponsors.

7th ABAV Research Day
For the seventh time, ABAV organises the ABAV Research Day. This full-day symposium is meant to exhibit the various types of research projects that are ongoing in Belgium in the domain of acoustics. The research day is organised bi-annually, and is typically hosted by a university. This time UGent hosts this event.
The full program will follow later, as said before it is a full day and lunch is provided. There are 20 contributions (oral + poster) for this interesting day.

Round table : Environmental noise in Belgium
Environmental noise legislation and regulation is slightly different in the three regions in Belgium. This round table unites representatives from the three regions to discuss a possible path to harmonisation.

Batibouw Academy Presentation
UPDATE: The presentation has been split in to two presentations. One FR and one NL at 16:30 and 17:30 respectively. Batibouw academy is situated in palace 5.
ABAV will be present at Batibouw to promote the importance of acoustics! On 23/02 ABAV board members Juliette Florentin, Lieven Degeetere and Fabienne Duthoit will promote the importance of acoustics for professionals in the building industry. This will be "back to basics" type of presentation, but your presence can be useful to foster new professional relationships.

The Sound of Silence : symposium
“Silence”, a concept with a slightly different meaning for different people. This plurality of meanings is certainly a challenge for acousticians. Silence is not absolute, it has a certain character, it highly depends on the character of the person, the type of situation and the time of day.
